Poem by Els van den Eynde

In Loving Memory Poems

Nostalgia

as i look him in the eyes…
leading me in the pinnacle of faith dancing with reverence…
saw the cloud eating him away…
neither he fought it, nor he stayed…
saw him fleeting far from me gave that smirk and wave “goodbye” too…
he took my heart, but live within my soul…
i couldn’t reach him anymore.
walking away just that though i still want him to stay.
he got away with everything i have, without leaving a piece.
nostalgia…
seeing Euphoria…

Teardrops Like Rain

Teardrops fall
inexplicably like rain
Holding me glued
like that time
on a weird summer's day

I look up at the sky
and saw the
little droplets of rain
falling inexplicably
like the teardrops on my face

Love Poem by Lamar Cole

Free Poems

Only Love

Love can sometimes be fresh.
Love can sometimes be new.
Love can sometimes make you happy.
And sometimes make you blue.

Love is the light that radiates from your eyes.
Love is your image floating in the skies.

Love is true.
And darling, the only love for me is you.

In Loving Memory Poems - Poem by Xavier

Free Poems

Poem by Xavier

I managed to mourn your tears.
I have bleeding your wounds.
Wishing for me all your diseases,
dismounted my life to build yours.
Never rained on you
nor will the sun damage.
And so it stayed in vacuum anything,
suspended in the accessory,
monitoring, protecting, scaring,
fueling another terrifying being
around which I gravitate,
clung to an orbit without which
would cease to exist.
So I am no longer than your desires,
the yearn to achieve
and the contempt for the achieved.

In Loving Memory Poems

Many people are searching for funeral poems, poems of bereavement, and poems which are written in loving memory of a lost loved one.

I've decided to put together a list of In Loving Memory Poems here - to make them easier for people to find. Not all of these poems were written as poems of bereavement, but in some cases they could be interpreted that way, so I've included them.

Bereavement Poem by Els van den Eynde

A poem for a loved one passed away...

Memory
Memory is a melody
Replicated in semitone
A da capo performed in diminuendo
the last dying note vanishing, unnoticed

And we wish
for the melody
not to pass out of existence
but to transfer to another space
where it obtains
forever

Life in Pink, by a Prisoner in Rwanda

Free Poems

Poetry from the Heart

This poem requires a slight introduction, it was written by an inmate, in Gitarama Prison, one of the most notorious prisons in Rwanda. This prison has been described by many human rights organizations as a place on earth worse than hell itself.

Another factor you should know, is that in Rwanda, prisoners are dressed in pink clothing. Life in Pink refers to life as a prisoner. Criminon which is referred to in the poem is a humanitarian organization that works with prisoners.

Life in Pink

It was a miserable day,
the accusations were closed.
Fully pink dressed
I cried as taken by a dose.

Facing the rejection of my case, I knew my future would be broken.
My plans keep on drying out
And where the hope is gone and maybe I will die.
Criminon visits me the moment I did not hope for anything.
With a cramped heart and jointed hands, an existing body but spirit far away.
Despair everywhere.

Criminon, life in pink!
It is time to have a look at the bright sight of life!
I have found the way to happiness, the way to change my life into better days!
Criminon yells life in pink!

Déo, your son will grow up, cover him with love!
He will build up a better world,
'Son of his father', they will say.
But he will end up as a great man.
I will not shout to him: 'get out of my way'!
I will rather guide him into this world.
That is how I will do it.
Criminon, life in pink!

Mother of my son, cry out in joy
I have nothing against you anymore, I believe in your loyalty.
And God, I follow my faith. You or nothing is my rule.
Criminon, life in pink!

The truth is my life, however the others shame on you.
Illegality is a cross, everyone who fails in it
ends up in prison, that's the rule, believe me.
No shelter, only you.
Criminon, life in pink!!!

I pray for God and I believe in him,
without judging the God of other ones.
Work is my support. Competence is my fruit.
I will live well, without any troubles.
Criminon, life in pink!!!

This planet is also mine! This planet and I have an alliance.
I do her good for my proper goodness.
Her prosperity is also mine.
Criminon, life in pink!

I wake up, where I am, Criminon is with me.
Even in pink, life is pink! No dose, I have the hope and I work.
It is tomorrow, the day out of these walls.
Criminon, life in pink!!!

A Daughter, by Tom Fenning

Free Poems

A Daughter

A daughter is someone

Soft and sweet

Lovable compassionate

And neat.

A daughter is a help

To Mom

Cleaning, cooking

Maintaining the home.

A daughter is

Dad's best friend

When he returns

From a hard days end.

A daughter

Helps with the sibs

Seeing that

They get their dibs.

A daughter knows

When tensions a brewing

And can deftly defuse

A fight from ensuing.

A home

Blessed with a daughter

Is a home

Well kept in order.

Our Men in Iraq - by Tom Fenning

Free Poems

Our Men in Iraq

I never was a soldier,
I know not
his plight to be.
I never slept in a tent
Or upon the ground,
because
I was a Navy man
And sailed the mighty sea.
Our mode of living
Quite different.
We did not sleep
Upon the deck
Our sacks were
Stacked quite high.
We never ate k-rations
Or meals in packages
Cooked outside.
When seas were calm
Food was eaten
Sitting down,
When Neptune turned nasty
It was sandwiches
All around.
We never feared roadside bombers,
Or anyone laded with TNT.
Our enemy was in the sky
And beneath us in the sea.
We knew our enemy.
They fought the same as we.
Soldiers of today
Know not his foe
Specters he cannot see.
Those he knows by day,
At night are enemy.
Shadows in the dark
Make our men in Iraq
An easy mark.

The Dream - by Tom Fenning

Free Poems

The Dream

Have you ever awakened

In the middle of the night

All sweaty and trembling

Shaking With fright?

Only to realize

It is just a bad dream

That woke you

With a loud scream.

Can you remember

The delight

As you returned

To pillow sleeping peacefully

The rest of the night?

Do you wonder

Why such dreams occur?

Was it something

In past life

Your memory bestirred?

The mind is a huge storehouse

With memories good and bad

Sometimes resurfacing in sleep

Making you scared.

I Love a Parade - by Tom Fenning

Free Poems

I love a parade

The Memorial Day parade

Happy, yet a somber day,

Honoring those who gave their life

So all may

Enjoy

Basking in freedom and liberty

Free from strife.

The rat-tat tat of the drum

The toot toot toot of the horn

Brings out the innate

Love of a parade

To which every man was born.

The rod straight sight of the marchers

The twirlers so deft and true

The multi colored uniforms of the bands

And their sweet music thrills me through.

Our flag unfurled and steady

Stiffly waving in the wind

Brings a restful peace

To everyone from within.

Many of the marchers

Men and women

Who fought to make our country free

These are the ones who gained for us

Our right to liberty.

Boy scouts, girl scouts

Proudly marching in line

Showing their patriotic allegiance

On their way to adulthood

They’ll mature just fine.

Clowns and jesters

Grace their places

They add smiles

To children’s faces

Strings of cars

Line the parade

Politicians and dignitaries

Wildly wave

To potential voters

Watching the parade.

It would seem to you compassionate that the jailer adopted the creature?

Do you know that there are people who do not know if it is night or day because a hood covers always their head?
Would you calm knowing that they deserve punishment by terrorists and criminals?
Do you still thinks it is fair if tomorrow they put you the hood and could not even plead for innocence? ...and really are you?
If it wins you love for human rights, do not Keep reading, you have things to do.

Never To Be Apart by Owen Hera-Singh

Free Love Poem

Never To Be Apart

The strong feeling of love,
Penetrates this heart of steel.

I love you more than life,
More than you will know.
More than everything around me,
Please dont ever go.

To have you in my life,
God, I feel so blessed,
But when your not around,
I feel so freakin stressed.

I want you in my arms,
To hold you in my heart.
To be with you forever,
Never to be apart.

Of you I cant stop thinking,
Your eyes, your face, your soul.
I need you all around,
To fill this gaping hole.
Here in my heart,
I need you most of all.

Associations

My days remind me of the endless autumn rain,
The fascinating, charming melancholy.
The sky is crying for my bitter loss -
The loss of one hour's eternity.
And I know the rain is bound to cease,
But my sorrow will shape just another rain cloud,
And the steps on our crossing ways
Will be only for always erased.

And my freedom reminds of a foreign land,
No destination is one, true home
That has never existed at all.
And wherever I go, I will only get lost.

And my love reminds of a wilted rose,
Its eternal beauty is evanescent;
While you're breathing in its light April scent,
Least of all you expect it to hurt you,
But time leaves you just pain of its pretty thorns.

And my truth reminds of an ancient language,
Mystic manuscripts only few can read,
But no one's ever got to the core,
Where the mystery is way too obvious.

So, my whole life's like a chess game
With one possible ending - it's draw.

Romance Part Two (Hourglass)

The pages of the years
Are crying of the same;
Each word - each silent sound reminds of you,
I'm counting days
By just extracting from dimension 'love'
Dimension 'pain'.

And I'll forget you, love
Just when a blind man draws
One sound on the non-existing wall,
One of a rose
That's falling quietly on the castle's floor,
No longer whole.

Through all the darkest nights
I'll have your worst nightmares,
I'll be your one eternal candle's light,
I'm always there -
We breathe the same and so much filled with love
October air.

And when the ages die,
The broken hourglass -
The symbol of the battle 'Love and Time'-
Will speak of us.
The world, no longer knowing what is love,
Will speak of us.

Romance

The candle has gone out,
My dream's deceived by fate,
I'm standing at the bound
Of 'then' and 'now',
But it's too late
To turn back,
Walking on the edge of razorblade.
Eternity is close,
It knows no time,
But through each silent night
I hear your voice
Implore "Don't die..."

The moonlight brings the charm
To tears in my eyes
Each time I come to wait for you
Beneath my fallen skies.
You're safe here in my arms,
My lips explore your skin
That's soaked in the air
Of my love that we breathe in.
But then the morning comes -
I wish I'd never wake.
I'll reach you now,
My far-off star,
Whatever it takes.

Appease my each heartfret
And close my swollen eyes
Don't let me see my sky ruined again,
Just not tonight.
I'm water, you're fire,
And we're one silent force.
We dream and know that conspires
The universe
To make it happen, and we are
The universe.

Free Love Poem by April

A Story Without An End

"Me, love and you... Three halves of something whole,
If one is missing, everything is clear."
These words can paint the sorrow in my soul,
But once bright colors fade away in years.
Once sweet anticipation of your arms,
A shard of dreams, by now has turned to fear
Of someone else's charm.

I give you everything I have and treasure.
But I have nothing. Love is nothing, too.
Love's non-existing, as it has no measure.
I've lost my faith in it. But not in you.
This verse is just another ode to Pothos -
The guise of my own heart-wrecked destiny.
I still believe in faith, but is it worth it?
Fate's given up on me.

I have convinced us both the feeling faded,
And it is a deceptive honest lie.
At least, I - devastated, torn and jaded -
Was truly independent in your eyes.
If love's opposed to freedom - it's in dreaming -
Then love and dreams don't make one sacred whole.
And so, my past completely lost its meaning...
If I exist - and had this past at all.

Living Today

I've torn all the beautiful letters,
Each writing love just as a script,
These odes to the hopeless romance,
The shield and the sword for the broken,
For real - a couple quick notes,
Saying that everything ends.

I've buried my once cherished dream -
I'm tired of living tomorrow,
Tomorrow of yesterday,
Tomorrow that's already gone.
And the fortress that's built of sand
Would be good just for losing the fight.

Such a perfect love story would die
Right before its beginning, so tragic.
No one would be waiting for me
On the faraway island of hope.
And the hearth of a fantasy
Would give only deceptive warmth.

Even shallow and rotten hearts
Speak in oaths, serenades and rhymes,
Like a deaf man can sing a song
They enjoyed when they still could hear.
They create only to destroy,
As a word has the shortest life.

I still keep living in the wave
Of our being apart together,
We're living a mystery,
But at least it is not a lie.
And it's only life's perfect guise
In your eyes that I've fallen for.

Reflections At Four In The Morning

All days are the same: morning, city, the crowd.
Life's not going forward, it's moving around.
And masks of all shades on those ignorant faces,
A few made-up stories in cheap street newspapers,
Sluts looking like stars, dirty queens of attraction,
Gross idols of so deceptive perfection
Are doors to the mind of the crowd, so hollow -
They hear the call of the dumb and they follow.
Now passion means lust, now freedom means violence,
Stupidity prospers. It's due to your silence!
The weak ones are searching for someone to blame,
The helpless would trade for a minute of fame.
A couple hearts broken don't cost a damned thing;
The hopeless romantics would give anything -
Despite having nothing - for love, non-existing.
We've made up this concept, as something is missing.
Believe it or not - I can cope alone!
I never wished someone to call me their own.
It's such a delusion that having you here
Will help me get over this common old fear.
What's frightening? Solitude? Fear itself!
I hide beside you when I fear myself!
But it is much better with you than the crowd
That never goes forward, that keeps going round.

God's Gifts

You cannot count the raindrops
Nor stars in the sky
The number of white clouds
Is unknown to the eye
You cannot count ripples
In a slowly moving blue lake
On a snow-covered peak
You cannot count the flakes

One cannot count the pebbles in the woods
Nor leaves on the trees bent with fruits
But it hardly matters
The number of things is inconsequential
Because
It is the happiness, joy and pleasure
That each gift from God brings
Which makes us realise
That God cares for us
Despite our faults and follies

When I look back on years gone by,
I realize the error of my ways.
But let me not build monuments
To senseless, empty, Godless days
Use the lessons learned, instead
To realize that mistakes are not a bane always
They are stepping stones to help us
On the long journey on road of Life

My Teacher

Thank you, my teacher, for being there
At times when skies were gray
Thank you, my teacher, for lending an ear
When I had things to say
You showered love on me lavishly
When no one seemed to care
You brought me joys untold
To fill my heart with moments of gold
I would have felt isolated and lonely
If you had not been there
I lack the words to let you know
How much you mean to me,
But I will profusely thank God for you
Until the Eternity.

Some people like their whiskey.
Some people like their gin.
But a pretty girl and Mountain Dew.
Really gets under my skin.

Because I live in a Mountain Dew world.

My minds floats in a Mountain Dew haze.
I look at the world.
Through a Mountain Dew gaze.

A pretty girl and Mountain Dew.

tell me

it's half past my bed time
and I'm still wide awake
waiting for the phone to ring,
waiting for your call all day.
Clock's ticking
Soft music playing.
Tears starts to fall
where are you now?
what happened to you?

Have your picture beside me
But all i want is to be
close to your body.
i cannot think of anything
Because all i can think of,
is you.
I am looking at nowhere
while wondering if you
still come.
You're dominating my heart,
you conquered my mind,
But you're nowhere in sight.

My heart is bleeding,
still waiting in vain.
Wondering if this is the end,
Thinking that our love
is already dead.
Looking for a sign,
Reading between the lines,
Is this love's over,
tell me,
it's now or never.

I am a traveler
A traveler without destination
I know not the way
I know not the place
Sometimes I falter
Sometimes I hasten
Sometimes I get tired
Yet I travel relentlessly
Also I travel with hope
And aspiration
Blissfully ignorant
Of the dangers
Lurking around

Ambitious, muddled and clumsy
In my thoughts
I rush blindly to a destination
Whereabouts of which
Are not known…

When the sun goes down
Silence envelops the sky
Darkness spreads its wings
Embracing the Mankind
Like a child in mother’s bosom
A strange feeling sweeps over me
A feeling of tiredness
Of fatigue
Of solitude
Of loneliness
As if
I have walked miles and miles
In a harsh desert
In a frozen grassland
In a barren valley
In a dying forest
I feel drowsy and sedated
Enchanted by the mysteries of life
Wishing to fall asleep
Forever
Suddenly
A sweet voice
Whispers my name
A soft breeze
Touches my face
A blooming bud
Spreads fragrance over me
I glance up
And see a ray of sunshine
Struggling
With the darkness of night
And running towards me
With open arms
And engulfing me
With its warmth
And radiance
I feel
Content, mesmerized and peaceful
Basking in the glory
Of ray’s affection and devotion
For me
Suddenly I know
That
Wilting flowers will blossom
In scorching heat
Little birds will sing
In threatening sky
Cool breeze will move
In hostile weather
New leaves will emerge
In famished plants
Because
This ray of light
Belongs to everyone
Beckoning everybody
Into its folds
With open arms
And
Overpowering the darkness
With its warmth
And resplendence

I Am a Free Spirit

Free Poems

I Am a Free Spirit

An Affirmation & Meditation for Inner Peace, Strength, and Healing

I will heal
And not harm

I will love
And not hate

I will restore
And not demolish

I will help
And not hurt

I will seek to understand
And not judge or dismiss

I will grow
And not stagnate

I will be respectful
And not rude

I will be compassionate
And not cruel

I will have empathy
And not apathy

I will be mindful
And not heedless

I will be strong
And not weak

I will be courageous
And not cowardly

I will dare to dream
And not relinquish hope

I will be open-minded
And not closed shut

I will plant peace
And not strife

I will inspire
And not crush

I will thrive
And not be thwarted

I will live in the moment
And not dwell in the past or on the future

I will cherish my loved ones, animals, and Mother Earth
And never take any of them for granted

I will embrace my uniqueness
And never be generic

I will make magic
And not malignancy

I will create
And not destroy

I will be free
And never confined

I am a free spirit
Who is grateful
For my life and freedom . . . today.

Student Loan Consolidation

Free Poem: Student Loan Consolidation

Yes I took that student loan,
to get me out of parents home.
Got in to university
Studied hard for Law degree.

The loan came easy all seemed swell
The price to pay I could not tell.
Confounded loan, curse fornication
That student loan consolidation!

Every day I spent that loan,
That got me out away from home.
I studied hard and hardly slept
As I schooled me into debt.

The loan came easy all seemed swell
The price to pay I could not tell.
Confounded loan, curse fornication
That student loan consolidation!

But as the end of school came near
The mounting debt I came to fear.
Credit soon became a crunch
There I stood the bleeding dunce.

The loan came easy all seemed swell
The price to pay I could not tell.
Confounded loan, curse fornication
That student loan consolidation!

So when I graduated with degree,
That loan loomed over haunting me.
For many years I had to slave
That student loan became my grave.

The loan came easy; all seemed swell
The price to pay, I could not tell.
Confounded loan, curse fornication
That student loan consolidation!

So now at age of forty-three
That stupid loan is still with me.
But what advice and consolation?
Get a student loan consolidation.

The loan came easy all seemed swell
The price to pay I could not tell.
Confounded loan, curse fornication
That student loan consolidation!

Well one thing I sure did learn,
Just spend the money you did earn.
Borrow money: play with fate….
In time you will consolidate.

Sad Love Poem: My Heart Was Broken Today

Free Poems

My Heart Was Broken Today

My heart was broken today,
thinking of all the words I left unspoken.
How do I heal these wounds?
You were a part of me for so long.

My heart was broken today,
she told me you were seeing someone else.
I'm happy for you, I really am.
I just wish you loved me and not her.

My heart was broken today,
There was so much we could've been.
But you're happy now, that's what matters to me,
even if it means I'm losing you to someone else.

My heart was broken today,
I can shed no more tears, I've cried myself dry.
I feel there is a dagger in my heart,
and there it will always stay.

My heart was broken today.

The Sky is Blue and White

Free Poems

The Sky is Blue and White

(Written at Age 4)

The sky is blue and white.
But that won't make me cheered up, because sometimes it rains from the rain clouds.
La la la la la la.
The sky is blue and white.

I want to know if it's a snowing day.
Whoever looks in a house without any windows -
It's going to be very dark.
The sky is blue and white.
I can tell because I have windows.

When I walk backwards, sometimes I bam into things
Because it's dark at night.

My mom knows when it's a good day for playing outside.
When she turns on our light, and looks out the window.
The sky is blue and white.
You need it each day.

Love Poem: Let You Go

Free Poems

Let You Go

Let you go and set you free
Free
Free to be
from me.
Let it lie
Fly away.
Forever more
See the day
Close the door.
Forget the way I cling to you.
Forget the love I bring to you.
Happy happy you and me?
Let you go and let you be
Happy happy you and she
If that sets your happy free.
Follow the light. Swallow the dreams.
Keep the songs. Keep the we.
Hold it in your heart for me.

My Blog is Back!

Your Poems Your Stories has been saved by an Angel from Thailand (story here).

:)

I am sorry if any of you were looking for it while it was out of commission. I shudder to think that you would have been greated by ugly meaningless code and error messages! But anyway, it's back.

And it's better! Holly gave us a new theme too! It is in italian, but only the obvious parts. And it's
much prettier and easier to read.

Remember to come join Your Poems Your Stories and publish your work!!! Tell the world!!!

My Missing Blog

If you are looking for my blog, Your Poems Your Stories, and can't find it, that's because it is temporarily lost in the between-hosts area. I have been trying to migrate it to a new webhost in order to speed it up. In the process, it is not showing up at all. I am trying to get this fixed as fast as possible!

Blogging for Human Rights Day

Human Rights Poem

Today is the day we blog for Human Rights. I have already posted my own Poem on Human Rights (injustice and wrongful imprisonment). The following is another Human Rights Poem, from an email I received:

"Hi Anna, I thought I would submit this for the human rights theme. It is about the South Central Farm in L.A. bulldozed to put up a Walmart. I know there are many injustices going on in the world, but our rights are being abused right here at home."

An oasis of peace
Encircled by concrete
The feel of Mother Earth
On our hands
Her soil under fingernails,
Worn with pride
Her bounties were many
Giving sustenance,
Freedom from fear,
A sense of community

A dream snatched
With a promise broken
Her gift sold in
Dirty back room deals
Sullied by corporate growth
Bull dozed by avarice
Smothered by indifference

by
Sherry Obsheatz

Sherry says:

"As long as I am given credit for my work the poem can be used for free.
And just wanted to say thanks for having such a wonderful site that encourages people to write."

lounging across the porch step
soaking up the sun

Noise from the closet...

Blogging for Human Rights

Poetry for Human Rights

Bloggers Unite

15 May, as you may remember, is the day of Blogging for Human Rights.

I would like to invite anyone and everyone to submit poems or stories on Human Rights.

I wrote one poem myself which I will publish here now. I hope some of you will be able to contribute some more.

Here is my Human Rights poem. It is about INJUSTICE.

Someone Else's Crime

I will grow tomatoes
When you've set me free.
I will live at home in peace
Where all will let me be.

I will wake up cheerful
In the morning to the sun.
I will feel at peace at last,
Once my Freedom's won.

I have been imprisoned here
For someone else's crime.
I have lived my life in fear,
And I have done my time.

All I want, is to feel safe -
Relaxed and calm and free.
I have been good, to fellow men.
Why aren't they good to me?

I try to keep my head up high,
Imagining the day
When I will be allowed to fly,
When I will go away,

And wrap myself in someone's arms
Who knows me as I am.
I try to think about that day,
As hard as try I can ...

I will wake up smiling,
In the morning sun.
I will kiss the one I love, and
Once this battle's done ...

I will grow tomatoes in
My garden in the grass,
And tie my hair behind my head ...
And when this storm has passed,

I will sit up late at night
With cats and cups of tea,
I will live no more in fright
Once I have been set free.

I only want this misery
And fear and pain to end.
I only want a life at peace
Surrounded by my friends.

But that will be another day.
Today I must remain
Within the madness of this place
In fear, and hope, and pain.

But always, I hold up my head,
Imagining the day
When I will be allowed to go,
When I will fly away ...

Not now. It isn't over yet
I must sit out my time,
As I have done, for all these years,
For someone else's crime.

Dining Alfresco by Tom Fenning

Dining Alfresco

Alfresco

For a boy from

The city

Dining Alfresco

Looked pretty.

Surrounded by trees

And flora abundance.

Caterpillars and bees

Doing a fun dance.

Iron Tables

And chairs

Green umbrellas

To ward off

The sun

Looked like

Eating alfresco

Could be fun.

The bee determined

To annoy me

But a swat of

My hat

Ended all that.

The caterpillar

On umbrella top

Continued to gyrate

And wriggle

So funny

I had to stifle

A giggle.

This lunch was

An adventure

And one I will treasure

And probably

Venture

to enjoy

This pleasure.

Planting Peace

An Affirmation for Well-Being

Every day
when we rise
we can make
the decision
to plant
the seeds of peace...
through our thoughts
speech and actions
we have the power
to maintain
our own well-being
and while the spirit crushers
and war mongers
attempt to infect us
with their malignancy
our serenity
will shield us
from their strife...
for the power of peace
is right inside
our heads and hearts
gently guiding us
towards harmony
and freedom.

War Poem: Cold Stony Sand

Cold Stony Sand

I stand here in a foreign land
Beneath my boots, cold stony sand.

A dessert country rough as stones,
with frosty nights that chill my bones,

And scorching days that blind my sight,
A burning hell until the night.

I came to keep the peace, I hear,
But all I do is live in fear.

Unseen eyes, they stare at me
Please send me home, please set me free.

River by Pya Parekh

River

young fresh life is born and grows
as a river flowing down in each bend
rushing in search, in search for the essence life
on his path the beauty of the world reflects on surface
pure and young the river touches every corner of the world
creating life in his path
finally reaching the ocean the soul rises to nirvana
new rain falls again learning and creating ever more beauty on its path
the river as gracious as our children
and the ocean as wise as our elders
water is the essence life

I Thought I was Winning

I thought I was winning
I thought I could wait -
Holding the doors
Of the rickety gate,

While the enemy thundered
And heaved at the stakes
I always just wondered
How long it would take.

And you said you would come
Just as soon as you could,
That the moment should be
When the moment was good.

Well the moment has passed
And its passing today,
I'm not gonna last.
Not another two days.

So this is my ending
It hurts me to say.
I'm tired of pretending
That I'll be okay.

I'd rather start over.
I'd rather start clean
Far from the droves of
Unending machines.

How can I live
If I stay or I go.
What I would give,
For a life I could hold.

Five years of torture,
The more good I do.
This isn't living.
This shouldn't be true.

No more "tomorrow."
No more "two days."
Damn it I'm dying here.
All I can say.

Mercy Please

Mercy please,
I lost the fight.

Mercy please,

Mercy please,

Mercy please,

Mercy please,

Mercy please,

Mercy please,

Just want to live

I Cry in Fear

I cry in fear,
I scream with hate.
What gave us all
This ugly fate?

To meet upon
The battle field,
Where all must fight,
And none can yield.

I do not want
To do whats right.
I want to kill.
I want to fight.

My brother died.
I loved him dear.
You took from me
Those who were near.

I cannot end
Or stop this war.
I need to fight;
Settle the score.

I Do Not Hate My Enemy

I do not hate my enemy.
He fights for all his children free.

'Tis why we choose to go to war
My child is what I'm fighting for.

We both fight for our liberty
To see our children strong and free.

'Tis really a strange twist of fate
that sees our love turned into hate.

It is lessen I must give,
I want my child, my child to live.

For now I fight, I fight my fiend
Another life, you'd be my friend.

Machines of War

Machines of war.
The cogs of fate.
They're made to kill
And teach of hate

I worship death,
Your enemy.
I track you down,
Don't let you flee.

So run as can.
You run so well
You're in my sight
But you can't tell.

This is the game.
Its you or me.
Its rather grim
The choices be.

These are the thoughts
That I do figure.
With my finger
On the trigger.

Goodbye for now,
You lucky clover.
You rest in peace.
For you its over.

Free War Poem: Songs of War

Free War Poem

Songs of War

Songs of war rang through the land.
Come lend us all a fighting hand

Seek enemy, and show no fear.
He does not know his end is near.

Through force, we take the land we found.
We drive him of his holy ground,

And route him with the point of spear.
And take from him all he held dear.

With victory for all to see,
We cheer to see our victoms flee.

Such is the way of stronger man.
we take from him, because we can.

Yet, here I stand, with mirthless grin.
I shot that fiend, I killed his kin.

For this, I have a medal here.
T'was traded for my soul, I fear.

Out in the Wilderness
(Response to Where is the Cavalry)

I sleep on the ground here
Of frosty cold stone.
My thoughts are with you dear,
Where I am at home.

Cold staring eyes
Of the stars in the night,
Gaze hard upon me.
It doesn't feel right.

I lie in this darkness
And tremble with fear.
Not due to the battle
But because you're not near.

Where are you now?
And what are you thinking?
I dare not imagine,
My heart is still sinking.

I want this war over.
That the terror be gone.
I was blissfully happy,
Before it came along.

And this is a strange land,
A crude distant place.
But it's not the adventure,
Or the danger I face.

Lonely cold nights
On a hard field-bed cot,
This is no pleasure,
It really is not.

I wish only again
That we would be near,
But you live in my heart,
You always are here.

And there's only one comfort
In this god-forsook place.
A picture of you,
With a smile on your face.

So please don't be sad
You are not alone.
I promise one thing;
That I will come home.

Because who could deny you
The thing that you miss.
A loving embrace
And a warm tender kiss.

It is surely not I,
Please don't get misgivings
The pleasure it lies
Just in the giving.

Thats all for now
I love you my dear.
I look to the future
When we will be near....

Where is the Cavalry

Where is the cavalry

Where is the cavalry
I'm all alone
Standing at ramparts
Of crumbling stone.
And my back wants to break,
My head wants to scream.
Let me awake
From this maddening dream.
The ramparts are shaking
The bricks want to fall
My spirit is breaking
I can't hold them all ...
Please don't forsake me,
Please come and fight.
Please come and wake me
Deep in the night.
Tell me its over,
Sing me a song.
Its time to come home now,
It's been much too long...

I Wish my Husband Were Online

I wish my husband were online
If he were here, I would be fine.
I wish he would turn on his phone.
I sit at night, I'm all alone.

I wish he would come home to me.
Its been a year, too long, you see.
I can not bear another day.
I wish he hadn't gone away.

And when I cry, he can't get mad,
Nor say I want him to feel bad.
Because he is so far away.
I wish he would come home and stay.

I wish that when I woke at night
And couldn't sleep, he'd hold me tight.
And kiss me on my eyes and face.
And crush my bones with his embrace.

And calm my heart. And laugh away,
The torments of these insane ways,
That follow me wher'er I go.
I miss him and I love him so.

My poem is a corny rhyme
Because I have not so much time.
My stomach lurches, my hands shake
I wish I was too hard to break.

I wish I was like him, so calm.
Even when these things go wrong.
Happy, strong, and carefree too.
I say, "One day, I'll be like you."

Which day that is, I cannot see.
I want to feel alive and free.
And never sleep again alone.
I wish my husband would come home.
