The Factories - By James Williams

The Factories

The factories and shops are closing down,
There’s a bad feeling in the air.
It’s happening in so many towns
Many have a look of despair.
Worried about losing their jobs,
How are they going to pay their rent?
Feeling like they are being robbed,
Any savings will be spent.

Is the economy out of control now?
Have the lenders had it too good?
The leaders say they have the know how,
Have the borrowers misunderstood?
Living costs, they keep climbing,
Majority proles on the minimum wage.
There’ll be some spin and denying,
Saying “It’s just a passing phase”.

Give the lower paid tax cuts for a while,
Some cash to spend in the economy.
Give your folks a reason to smile,
Lift your head and get off your knees.
The bankers are scared of losing money,
No faith in any business ideas.
Before, in such a hurry!
Now, worried about their careers.
