ONAM in GODS OWN COUNTRY

It is the day of Onam
I would like to write a poem
Celebrated in the Gods Own Country
Right from common people to manthri
Familes make yummy dishes
And this is one of my wishes
Floral decorations in front of the home
I can’t wait for this day to come
Avial, kalan, Olan, Ellisheree
Sambhar, pappad, pickle and pulianjee
The final feast ends with a payasam
Semia or Adda that you will like to have some.
The feast is mostly vegetarian
Neither egg nor any non-vegetarian
Drumsticks is used in most of the dish
In Avial, Sambhar and every other food you wish
Makes your lunch delicious
And the hospitality is mostly gracious
You will go home with a pot belly
For sure, I am not talking silly.
