A rainy Day in May - Craig Gardner

A rainy Day in May

A desolate rain blankets the May sky
Feelings seem to be lost as the days go by.
My body feels too weak to hold this frustration inside.
Its skin is tearing trying to contain it.
A chrysalis that’s ready to break at any given chime.

If only I could give it a name
Maybe it will quietly die down!
But that’s a fool’s wish
That’s the thoughts of a na├»ve child

Truth is it will never go away
Deep inside it will only get stronger,
more desperate as May passes to June,
June passes to July
And the years trickle so idly by.

If only I could give it a name
Am I becoming deaf to its cry?
That false suppression has only made it hate me more.
It’s on the move and it seems that it’s only a matter a matter of time

Ah, but time itself seems like a pin waiting to strike.
To pierce my chrysalis and release that monster banging inside.
A darkness; a hate we thought had long been beaten
and imprisoned in the depths of gentle souls

But the heart wouldn’t have it.
It has been shown the true colours of this world to many times.
For where there is light; shadows will always be waiting to rise.
Black hearts shown the dark, can never return to the light.

In the shadows they will work;
They will gather their strength and when the time is right
They will show the light, the beautiful light
What it means to walk in the night, the arcane night.
