We can be Societal - By Craig Gardner

We can be Societal

we can be societal
I can be societal.
It flows in my veins.
I can converse with the cronies on their playgrounds;
Drinking tea and talking commerce shop.

I can be societal.
I’m the tapestry that decorates its frames.
I can entertain the faceless man.
With stories and hoaxes
Of their nameless revenge.

I can be societal.
It’s been scarred into my skin.
I can behave in its banquets.
Masquerades of insecurity.
Gatherings so superfluous in nature and folly in purpose.

I can be societal.
It’s a self-crucifying state of mind.
Yes! I can be societal.
Acceptably normal.
Then that reverie ends
Then contemplation sets in.
Who am i?
