Looking Back - By Frank Blacharczyk

Looking Back

I stand on this plot of ground
thinking about my life
the good I have done the bad I have done
the love I have created the hate that I stirred
My autobiography is filled with happy moments
painful moments
The world I see before me is not the same
neither am I
God seems so close at times yet at times so far away
An anxious mind creates restless thoughts sleepless nights
Time is now the past is but a memory
hazy and biased good or bad replayed with a new script
some scenes better left on the cutting floor
This world I helped create helped to create me
regrets have become my drinking companion
I stand on this plot of ground breathing in
and breathing out the life I have lived
I have seen sadness and joy both can be misguided
when I was a child I looked to the future
now that I am old I replay the past
I have walked on this tightrope swaying side to side
balancing these frisky emotions never looking down
having faith the safety net has always been there.

Can’t Talk Right Now - By Frank Blacharczyk

Can’t Talk Right Now

Two people ran into each other
stood side by side known yet unknown
saying hello then sliding into an awkward silence
like an old western gunfight suddenly
a duet of  ring tones that has taken music hostage
they reached for their souls
to see who had the quickest draw
and to their relief a touching moment
quickly typing with insane giggles
their thoughts playing the keys like a piano
in the end they acknowledged each other with a nod
with a good-bye slipped it back into their holsters
patting it like a baby's bottom waiting for the burp
they walked for a moment but like a pack of cigarettes
they reached for their cell phones lighting and inhaling
staring at the screen to see if their popularity was still intact
as they were staring downwards the person they were tweeting
walked by without a peep just a nod.

Me and My Shadows - By Frank Blacharczyk

Me and My Shadows

I see shadows when I close my eyes
shadows black and white scuffling
looking for somewhere to go
some shadows are still and stare
some shadows walk away
some shadows dance with a strobe light in the background
I drink I pray I eat I hope I dream I tremble I watch
Don't you see I don't understand what's going on
Don't you see I can't see what's going on
What is reality mom what is reality
Turn on the TV my child turn on the TV
I see lips move I hear vacant words eaten like junk food
Something is missing something is lost
is it my cat is it my dog is it my sanity is it my freedom is it my love
Twists and turns people tied in knots
shook up and shaken sit by the water for peace
a peace of mind with no desire to leave
a peace that surpasses all understanding
I dropped my feet into the cool spring waters of Lake Ontario
As the water rippled gently upon the shore
it spoke to me massaging my rambling thoughts
